Delivery Lead – 6 Month Initial Contract - Remote Context: In support of wider organisational strategy, our vision is to nurture a digital product capabilty, designing and delivering connected product offerings at pace, supported by common digital services. To be successful requires change across our working practices, use of technology and organisational culture. The Delivery Lead will take responsibilty for leading a cross functional agile team that has been established to help us drive new working practices and grow our overall digtial product capabilty, through delivery of a new customer registration platform. The platform is approaching adoption at scale for B2B clients from our Global Assessments exams business. The roadmap for further enhancement and adoption across new B2B and B2C product offerings is being developed continuosly, whilst adapting to customer and operational feedback. Key Responsibilties:
Coach the team on agile ways of working and ensure agile principles are upheld by the team.
Ensure an optimal flow of work through the wider team, identifying bottlenecks and actively working to resolve.
Ensure team deliver outcomes in line with priorities set by Product function.
Determine and report on overall progress to stakeholders & wider organisation
Ensure blockers and impediments faced by the team are driven to resolution.
Ensure the wider team have clarity in the business goals to be achieved and the activities required to achieve these goals (eg. backlog)
Manage any external dependencies and risks which impact successful delivery outcomes.
Key Experience:
Leading multiple agile product teams, ensuring delivery within agreed constraints, in support of an overall programme of change
Working collaboratively with product and architecture functions, through continuous discovery, to turn client/customer/user needs into designs and delivery plans
Establishing and communicating across the discovery/delivery flow, via effective reports, dashboards and metrics to ensure transparency of progress
Supporting the team to create capacity for optimising product “operability” practices, in addition to working on further adoption and new features.
Developing effective working relationships with all stakeholders, teams, other business representatives and suppliers
Key Responsibilties:
Provide single point of contact for awareness and understanding of all activities and any cross dependencies for the platform
Ensure knowledge and information sharing so that teams are aware of work being carried out by other teams and can take this into consideration when making requests (UX, Design, Development, DevOps and Testing).
Setting goals for the team to ensure successful delivery and ensuring that every team member has a role to play in achieving set goals and targets
Take ownership of agreed deliverables and dates and ensure that any changes to plan are properly communicated as early as possible
Facilitate agreed agile ceremonies or team and agree forecast Feature Complete dates for deliverables in planning increments, in particular for large items of work that run across multiple sprints. Update these forecast FC dates following each sprint close/planning session.
Key Knowledge and Skills:
Extensive experience managing solutions developed using a microservices based architecture.
Expertise in define agile frameworks based on project needs - Scrum or Kanban.
A broad understanding of change management and programme / project management approaches and techniques
Good communication skills and the ability to communicate professionally and effectively at all levels, both written and verbally
Experience of managing work and deliverables of internal and external suppliers
Hands-on experience of creating dashboards in Jira and Confluence
Outputs / Deliverables:
Managing day to day delivery
Producing high quality delivery plans
Ensuring work is completed to deadlines and deliverables meet expectations
Producing progress reports, highlight reports and exception reports
Identifying and managing risks and work stream dependencies
