Job Description: Data Engineer - AWS Cloud Migration (12-Month Remote Contract, EU Timezone)

Position Summary: As a Data Engineer specializing in AWS Cloud Migration, you will play a vital role in seamlessly migrating our data ecosystem to the AWS cloud platform. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, you will leverage your technical proficiency to ensure a smooth and efficient migration while maintaining data integrity, security, and performance.
Key Responsibilities:
AWS Cloud Migration:

• Collaborate closely with the project team to design and execute a comprehensive strategy for migrating on-premises data systems to Amazon Web Services (AWS).
• Assess existing data infrastructure, prioritize migration tasks, and develop detailed migration plans for a successful transition.
• Design, implement, and optimize data pipelines, ETL processes, and workflows within the AWS environment.
• Implement data validation, quality checks, and testing protocols to ensure the accuracy and reliability of migrated data.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize AWS services to ensure data availability, performance, and scalability.

Data Transformation:

• Transform and cleanse data from various sources to align with the requirements of the AWS cloud environment.
• Collaborate with data analysts and scientists to facilitate data modeling, analytics, and reporting initiatives.
• Ensure data is appropriately structured, indexed, and organized for optimal performance and accessibility.

Technical Expertise:

• Leverage your expertise in AWS cloud services, including AWS Glue, Amazon Redshift, and AWS Data Pipeline, to facilitate a successful migration.
• Utilize your proficiency in data engineering tools and programming languages (e.g., Python, SQL) to build and manage data pipelines.

Documentation and Communication:

• Document migration processes, data flows, and technical specifications to ensure knowledge retention and facilitate collaboration.
• Communicate progress, challenges, and solutions effectively to stakeholders and project team members.
• Provide technical guidance and support to colleagues as needed throughout the migration process.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
• Proven experience (minimum of 4 years) as a Data Engineer, with a focus on cloud migration, particularly within the AWS ecosystem.
• Strong proficiency in designing and implementing data pipelines, ETL processes, and data integration strategies.
• Expertise in AWS cloud services, including AWS Glue, Amazon Redshift, AWS Data Pipeline, and related tools.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and SQL for data manipulation and transformation.
• Familiarity with data governance, security, and compliance best practices.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering high-quality results.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
