Summary Description:
A leading academic medical institution is seeking a Principal Finance Systems Analyst to serve as a senior functional lead for their Workday Financials platform. This is a high-impact role supporting a complex, mission-driven environment spanning higher education, clinical operations, and research funding.
This individual will act as a strategic partner to Accounting and Finance leadership, owning system optimization, configuration, and ongoing enhancements across key Workday Financials modules.

Requirements Description:
4+ years of experience supporting Workday Financials in a functional capacity
Strong functional accounting background (Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred)
Deep expertise with Workday Foundation Data Model (FDM) design, governance, and reporting implications
Hands-on experience configuring and supporting multiple Workday Financials modules, including several of the following:
Cash & Banking
Customer Accounts
Business Assets
Budgets
Grants
Proven experience partnering with Accounting stakeholders in complex organizations
Experience supporting Workday in post-implementation production environments
Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and operational finance processes
Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment aligned to Eastern Time business hours
Tasks Description:
Serve as the functional lead for Workday Financials, supporting configuration, enhancements, and production support across core finance modules
Partner closely with Accounting, Finance, and Grants teams to translate business requirements into scalable Workday solutions
Provide subject matter expertise across Workday Financials, with emphasis on:
Cash & Banking
Customer Accounts
Business Assets
Budgets
Grants
Lead design and governance of the Foundation Data Model (FDM), ensuring alignment with accounting structure, reporting, and compliance needs
Drive continuous improvement initiatives, including system optimization, automation, and process standardization
Support month-end, year-end, audit, and compliance activities from a systems perspective
Troubleshoot functional issues, manage system testing, and support Workday releases and new feature adoption
Collaborate with technical teams, integrations teams, and external partners as needed
Act as a senior escalation point and mentor junior analysts on the team
