SAP Data Migration Lead 
Global S/4HANA Transformation — ECC to S/4HANA Migration


About the Role

A leading global retail organisation is seeking an experienced SAP Data Migration Lead to join their ongoing ECC to S/4HANA transformation programme. This is a critical senior role, they need someone who has done this before, multiple times, and can hit the ground running both technically and from a leadership perspective.


Role Overview

  • Title: SAP Data Migration Lead 
  • Type: Contract
  • Duration: Initial 6-months (extension subject to performance)
  • Location: Mostly remote with occasional travel as required
  • Start: As soon as possible 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the SAP Data Migration Leadership Team through the ECC to S/4HANA migration
  • Work directly with business stakeholders to gather data migration requirements and translate them into detailed technical specifications
  • Own the end-to-end data migration strategy, planning and execution across all SAP modules
  • Manage data quality, cleansing, transformation, validation and cutover activities
  • Ensure the team understands and applies S/4HANA data model changes — Business Partner (BP) concept, new journal entry structure, universal journal and new S/4 functionality
  • Perform PMO and programme management tasks: reporting, risk management, issue tracking, stakeholder communication
  • Coordinate across global workstreams (MEU already in rollout; US time zone coverage required)

What They Are Looking For

  • Multiple full-cycle ECC to S/4HANA data migrations delivered as lead 
  • Strong technical understanding across all SAP modules from a data migration perspective (not deep functional expertise in every module, but solid technical knowledge of data structures, migration objects and cross-module dependencies)
  • Deep familiarity with S/4HANA data model changes: Business Partner concept, new journal entries, ACDOCA, new S/4 functionality and how these differ from ECC
  • Proven ability to lead a migration team and manage PMO activities — stakeholder management, planning, reporting and governance
  • Experience with migration tools: Migration Cockpit, BODS, LSMW, ADMM Syniti or equivalent
  • Comfortable operating in a global, fast-paced programme environment with US and European stakeholders
