SAP PLM & AVC Architect       

Next Ventures are currently executing a search for a highly experienced SAP PLM & Advanced Variant Configuration (AVC) Architect to lead the technical delivery of SAP AVC integrated with SAP PLM for a global client in the consumer goods and medical manufacturing sectors. The role demands deep expertise in SAP AVC for continuous products, alongside strong knowledge of Specification Management, Recipe Development, Document Management, Packaging, Labelling, and Artwork Management—all within regulated, compliance-driven environments. You will collaborate closely with Product/Assortment Management, R&D, Quality, Supply Chain, Regulatory, and Manufacturing teams to deliver scalable, integrated, and compliant solutions.

Location -Germany ,Remote from anywhere in Europe  (applicants must be able to work in Europe and hold Eu or UK Passport) or Blue card for Germany.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the technical design, development, and deployment of SAP AVC for targeted product assortments (e.g., medical devices).
  • Partner with business stakeholders, IT teams, and program sub streams to ensure solution alignment across Business Units and Manufacturing Units.
  • Architect and implement SAP capabilities, including:
    • Advanced Variant Configuration (AVC)
    • Engineering Change Management (ECM)
    • Product Structure Management
    • Specification Management
    • Recipe Development
    • Artwork Management (incl. ESKO Artwork)
    • Label Management
    • Material Management
    • Master Data Management
    • Production Planning & Order Execution
    • Sales & Product Configuration / Sales Order Configuration
    • CPQ Processes (Configure, Price, Quote)
    • Quality Management
    • Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS)
  • Integrate SAP AVC with other SAP modules (PLM, MM, PP, QM, EHS, IBP) and external systems.
  • Ensure system scalability, performance, and security across current and future solution waves.
  • Lead and mentor teams of 7–15 developers, conduct code reviews, and enforce best practices.
  • Manage technical risks, timelines, and deliverables in alignment with Agile Ways of Working.
  • Stay ahead of SAP AVC innovations and recommend continuous improvements for efficiency and compliance.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of SAP AVC implementation experience, with at least 3 years in a lead role.
  • Strong understanding of product lifecycle processes in regulated industries.
  • Hands-on experience with SAP S/4HANA and Fiori/UI5 development.
  • Proficiency in ABAP, BAPI, RFC, and integration technologies.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Fluent in English; additional languages are a plus.

Preferred Qualifications

  • SAP PLM certification.
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
  • Familiarity with regulatory frameworks (FDA 21 CFR Part 11/820, ISO 13485, EU MDR 2017/745).
  • Experience with both on-premise and cloud-based SAP solutions and integrations.
